HOWTO: Hide Send/Cancel buttons in Image Uploader Flash

Since release of Image Uploader Flash a week ago we got several requests from our customers how to create a custom HTML button. This task can be broken into two subtasks:

1. Hide standard Send/Stop buttons.
2. Create a HTML button which starts and stops upload.

Hide standard Send/Cancel buttons

The trick is rather simple. In the documentation to the product we have the Using Precompiled Themes topic illustrating how to change look and feel of the component. Using the technique described in this topic we can set width/height of the Send and Cancel buttons to 0. It allows hiding them. In the attachments to this post you can find both custom CSS theme file having these changes and SWF file to which the CSS is compiled to.

Add HTML buttons

Image Uploader Flash exposes imageUploaderFlash.send and imageUploaderFlash.stop methods to start and stop upload from JavaScript API. The sample in the attachment illustrates how to use them with Image Uploader Flash.
