Is it possible to create a customised ListViewItem for the thumbnail list that is not based on a file.

For example, I load files from a list of file names in an XML file (with some other attributes stored against those file names) - I locate those files and create Pidl objects based on them for the thumbnail.

If a file has been moved or deleted, I would like to show the file name (which I have available in the xml file) with an icon indicating the file has gone.

Is this possible?

Hello,

Yes, it is possible. Actually, thumbnail list item is responsible only for providing item's texts and images - no matter where it will obtain them. You can find more detailed information about custom ThumbnailList items in this article.
