The resolution in an image can be specified as pixels/cm rather than pixels/inch (in the Photoshop "Image Size" dialog). Graphics Mill handles this fine for PSD files, but has problems with TIFF and JPEG files. Is there anything I can do to get the correct values, or is this a bug that will be fixed in the next release?

In order to test this I created several different files with the resolution set to either 100 pixels/cm or 254 pixels/inch (100dpc = 254dpi). I then used Graphics Mill to read out the HorizontalResolution. These are my test results:

PSD RGB 100 dpc -> 254

PSD RGB 254 dpi -> 254

PSD CMYK 100 dpc -> 254

PSD CMYK 254 dpi -> 254

PSD files always return the correct resolution in DPI.

JPG RGB 100 dpc -> 254

JPG RGB 254 dpi -> 254

JPG CMYK 100 dpc -> 100

JPG CMYK 254 dpi -> 254

JPG returns wrong resolution for CMYK images with pixels/cm specified.

TIF RGB 100 dpc -> 39

TIF RGB 254 dpi -> 254

TIF CMYK 100 dpc -> 39

TIF CMYK 254 dpi -> 254

TIF returns wrong resolution for all images with pixels/cm specified.

Is there a way to work around this, or should I wait for the next release (when is that btw)?

Without knowing any details about how the resolution is extracted from image files, I guess that the resolution value (for example 100) should be multiplied by 2.54 if it's specified in pixels/cm in order to return the resoultion in pixels/inch (100 * 2.54 = 254). It seems this step is missed for JPG images in CMYK mode. When it comes to TIF images it seems as if the resolution value is divided by 2.54 instead of multiplied with 2.54 when specified in pixels/cm.

Just my thoughts...
