How can I determine if a PSD file has composit preview image?

A PSD file can be saved with the option "Maximize compatibility". In my understanding, maximizing compatibility will make sure there is a composite preview of all the visible layers at index 0 in the layer structure of the PSD file. I would like to know if a PSD-file uploaded by the user has this preview image or not. Using the Advanced PSD Add-on, I can get the image at index 0, but if there is no composite preview image I get an image with the text "This layered Photoshop file was not saved with a composite image" instead (or in some cases a scrambled image like the one in my example från CS5.5). Is there a way to determine if there is a real composite preview image?

Hello Mattias,
Unfortunately, there is no way to determine whether PSD files was saved with the option "Maximize compatibility" without it. |
