As the title states, I have a few clients who have corrupted image uploaders and I'm trying to find out how to uninstall them from firefox. I know how to do it for Mac and Linux systems but for some reason it eludes me on Windows. Any help?

Hello, Quote: I have a few clients who have corrupted image uploaders and I'm trying to find out how to uninstall them from firefox. Could you please explain what exact problem your users experience? Please ask them to send Java console content when the problem occurs. If it is possible please provide me with a link to your site (login/password if any) so that I can replicate the problem myself. Unfortunately, that's not possible. The clients I deal with are not really computer savvy nor is there one centralized site that's having issues. The error as I recall, because we've only had it happen with two or three clients, is simply that the client has crashed and become corrupted in firefox, giving them an error message stating to contact the network administrator. It's so few and far between that normally we refer them to internet explorer to correct their issue. But, to ensure the clients' contentment, I decided to ask about this myself. In short, it's not so much an issue or repairing it, which would take longer than I have for individual clients but removing and replacing it with a clean version. Thanks again for any help you can offer.

Hello, Thank you for your explanation. Your users who experience this problem can clear Java cache to remove cached Image Uploader applet. Here are the steps to do it: - click Start button to open Control Panel;
- open Java Control Panel (the icon with ‘Java’ or ‘Java (32-bit)’);
- General tab -> Temporary Internet Files -> Settings…;
- Delete files button.
Unfortunately, I do not know details of the problem. Thus, I am not able to assist you further. Hope removing Java applet, and installing it anew can help your users. Please let me know about their results. |

Thanks! That worked out when I tested it. While I've got you, an associate of mine wanted to know if there's a difference in uninstalling from IE(64bit) as it also uses the java version. Edit: Nevermind on that, we verified the technique works there as well. Thanks again! Edited by user Thursday, May 5, 2011 6:01:24 AM(UTC)

Alright, new issue. It seems that we're having issues with uploaders across the board now, anything that's not internet explorer 32-bit is giving the same crash error. When we try the java fix, it'll fix it for the next upload or so and then the uploader will crash again. Is this a conflict with java, perhaps with a new java update? It seems that the systems running 32-bit IE (Which uses ActiveX) are running fine. This is cross-platform, by the way. I've had both Mac and PC users calling in on this. Hello John, As far as I understand, you experience the problem in Java-enabled browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Safari) with Image Uploader Java applet. In this case, please provide me with Java console output when Image Uploader is crashed. Please try Aurigma Basic demo too and let me know about your results. Whether does the problem occur? I installed the last version of Java (1.6.0_25) on my machine, and try our Basic demo. Image Uploader was loaded and displayed without problems. |

Hello John, Most probably, you experience this problem because of loosing cookies during the upload process. Pease read detailed information on how to resolve it in the Maintaining Sessions and Authentication in ASP.NET / PHP articles. Please try it, and let me know about your results. |
