strangest thing:

I've reinstalled my work PC and since then i get this error each time i open a file in VS2010 in the aurigma project
Quote:
Warning 1 Z:\hapoel\store\editor.aspx: ASP.NET runtime error: Could not load file or assembly 'Aurigma.GraphicsMill.DLL' or one of its dependencies. The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800736B1)

this does not happen in other projects.
i didn't touch the server running the app and the app works with no problems,
but on my work PC i get this error which for some reason makes intellisnse to work sporadically.

any ideas what i did wrong ?

Hello,

Thank you for your question.

It is a known problem. Graphics Mill for .NET 5.0 and later requires Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package ATL Security Update. The link provides you with the x86 and x64 packages. You need to pick up one in correspondence to your version of Graphics Mill for .NET (x86 version of Graphics Mill for .NET requires x86 version of Redistributable Package and vice versa).
Also the Redistributable Package is included to Graphics Mill 5.5 for .NET installation package. You will be asked to install it while installing Graphics Mill. If you need to redistribute the package along with you application, you can find .exe file of this package in the Graphics Mill folder after it is installed (typically: C:\Program Files\Aurigma\Graphics Mill 5.5 for .NET\VCRedists). For additional details read the INFO: Could not load file or assembly Aurigma.GraphicsMill problem post.

If you still have the problem, please let me know.

i think my situation is a bit different
i do not have aurigma installed on my work computer - I'm working directly on the server files.

could that be the problem ? do i need to install aurigma also on my work computer even though all the files are on the server ?

thanks

Hello,

You do not need to install Graphics Mill on your computer. You should install Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package ATL Security Update only. You are able to find this package clicking on the given link. Another way is to download this package from the server where Graphics Mill installed (typically folder: ..\Aurigma\Graphics Mill 5.5 for .NET\VCRedists).

If you have any questions or problems feel free to let me know.

Try to reboot your server. And let me know whether it fixes the problem.

Is it all files? Or in particular when using form designer? I've run into some problems when developing in 64 bit windows, when trying to open forms that have the mulitlayer view in them, as visual studio still wants to run 32 bit versions of things, and not the 64 bit versions.

So I've needed to revert to instantiating the required components via code and for go the ability to visually design those forms in favour of programatically setting things up.

I hope that makes some sort of sense :)

I'm talking about the web version not the windows one.
and i never use a visual editor while developing (web)

the strange thing is I didn't touch the server - only reinstalled my work computer - the server stayed exactly the same,
and everything is on it - not my client.

Ido,

It is good your problem has disappeared. The explanation of this problem and its resolution is here.
In our records I see that you have had 32-bit Graphics Mill 5.5.4. As you wrote you installed 64-bit Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package ATL Security Update. But you needed to install the version of this package which corresponds to edition of Graphics Mill (x86 version of the package goes for x86 version of Graphics Mill and vice versa).

You installed correct version of redistributable package on your machine during installation of Graphics Mill (installer has asked you about it). It seems you deployed your web application on your local machine and it is working okay.
To fix this problem on server you need to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package (x86) on your server too. Please go to Microsoft site, download x86 version of the package and install it on your server.

Let me know about the results.
