Hello, I'd like to setup FileDownloader so that my users goto www.sitea.com for the download page, but the files in my download list are actually located at www.siteb.com, www.sitec.com, etc. Will this configuration work with a single domain license? Thanks Lee

Hello Lee, Unfortunately such configuration will not work at all with File Downloader because of security reasons. File Downloader Control, file list and all items from file list must be placed in the same domain name. You can read Security Approach in File Downloader for more information. Thanks for responding. So.... If I have the user interface at with the download client at www.sitea.com, can the files to be downloaded be located at server2.sitea.com ? Is this configuration supported? And if so, All I would need is a single domain license of the file downloader, correct? Thanks again Lee

Hi,
No, all domains must be equal, subdomains are not supported. Possibly it will be implemented in future versions.
I.e. File Downloader could be used with only one domain. In this case single domain license is needed.

So based on your message, having 2 servers in the same domain would be supported? So that SERVER1.samedomain.com could host the download client and pull files from SERVER2.samedomain.com using a single domain license? I guess I would interpret this configuration as multiple host rather than subdomains. Does Aurigma consider this multiple domains?
Thanks
Lee

Hello Lee, Sorry for misleading, I mean that server2.sitea.com and www.sitea.com are interpreted as completely different domains by file downloader, and it’s impossible to use it in this case. The same thing is with SERVER1.samedomain.com and SERVER2.samedomain.com. File Downloader will assume that domains are different and will not work correctly. |
