No checkboxes displayed next to files...

I'm using version 3.5.180.0 of the Image Uploader, and when I start the uploader not in thumbnail view (but in list, details, or icons mode), there are no checkboxes displayed next to the files for the users to select them. When the user manually changes the uploader view to Thumbnails and then back to another view, the checkboxes are displayed again. Is there any way to solve this?
