I would like to use Image Uploader to do client-side resizing, but our application allows either portrait or landscape orientation. Right now, our server is performing the following operations:

- detect portrait or landscape orientation

- crop to 3:4 or 4:3 ratio according to orientation

- scale down if long side exceeds maximum length

Is there any way to use Image Uploader to move these functions over to the client side? I am aware of the thumbnail option, but I can't find a way to do the orientation detection and cropping that we need.

Hello,

Crop is not yet supported in Image Uploader. Automatic crop is a difficult problem because simple crop algorithm could cut some important part of the image but the smart crop which detects what part to be cropped does not implemented and probably would enlarge the component size and make the average speed of upload process much slower.

We are not going to implement even the simple crop at the nearest time, but if you still want to get it in your private version feel free to write us to sales@aurigma.com.

Sincerely yours,

Alex Makhov
