Hi, Is it possible to get the Uploader to always default to a certain drive, e.g. CDROM drive instead of the desktop. Also is it then possible to only allow the user to browser images in this location? If so, how? Many thanks, Faisal

Hello Faisal, Quote:faisalm (10/5/2005)Hi, Is it possible to get the Uploader to always default to a certain drive, e.g. CDROM drive instead of the desktop. Also is it then possible to only allow the user to browser images in this location? If so, how? You can specify only one of the common predefined folders using GoToFolder method. You can not specify to navigate in arbitrary folder due security reason. We can build private label version with this features as a custom work. If you are interested, please contact us at sales@aurigma.com. Edited by user Monday, February 18, 2008 2:23:28 PM(UTC)

Fedor, We have a private label version (2.5) of your uploader that does exactly what you describe: it navigates Image Uploader to a specific folder because we know beforehand what folder has the images and it is used to restrict uploads to that folder. However, as you can probably deduce we miss-out on regular updates to Image Uploader unless we again compile it ourselves. Not only is it difficult (ActiveX in older Visual Studios) but hopefully unnecessary. Would it be possible to change Image Uploader to allow navigating to some folder other than a "SpecialFolder" if you added a confirmation box for the user? If they said no, it would go to whatever folder you usually choose for default. This seems like a fairly simple change and would be at least as secure as the ActiveX control itself (given that it gets complete access to a client system anyway). Plus, in a sense, clicking on a folder by a user would be a rough equivalent to asking them if a folder navigation is ok. If you see any downsides to this let me know. It would certainly solve an ongoing issue we are having. Thanks.

If they said no, it would go to whatever folder you usually choose for default. In upcoming Image Uploader 4.0 we have improved GoToFolder method, and now it allows navigation to arbitrary folder. Image Uploader 4.0 is feature completed and its release candidate version will be available in the end of week. |
