Using Image uploader 7 in Firefox has thrown up a slight problem.

On loading the page, the image uploader applet begins to load and the focus is set to a field on a form in the page. The cursor goes to the field correctly, but until the image uploader has finished loading the field is locked and nothing can be typed into it.

Is there a way around this?

Hello Alexandra,

Thanks for posting your question.

This feature of was implemented by design. The page with Uploader is locked during the upload process. Unfortunately, it is not possible to change this behavior.

We added this feature, because we have got many complaints from our Image Uploader 6 customers that users are confused when progress dialog goes behind the browser window. Thus, we fixed it in Image Uploader 7 this way.

If you have any additional questions, please feel free to let me know.

Best regards,

Hi Dmitry,

The field on the form is locked during upload, yes. This is not the problem.

The problem is that the field is locked while the image uploader is initialising, before the user has interacted with the tool at all.

Thanks.

Hello Alexandra,

I checked the page where form fields, and Image Uploader are located. I tried to reproduce this problem with locking fields during Uploader initializing. However, I did not get the same effect as you did. The fields were available.

Could you please provide me with a link to your site (login/password if any) with Image Uploader? If you do not want to post this data on the public forum, you will be able to submit a new support ticket.

Best regards,

Hi Dmitry,

It is not possible to give you access to our development site. Here is a more detailed explaination of the problem:

We have a jsp with some form fields and also IUL , running on firefox 2. When page is loaded, in the document.ready function, we set focus to 'A' form field.

Focus is going into the field(meaning that cursor is in the field) , but not allowing us to type and the field is locked.

If I manually click into other form field and going back to the earlier filed , it is allowing to type.

However if I set the focus in the 'initComplete' handler of IUL , it is setting the focus and also allowing us to type , after the IUL is being initialized, note that we still not interacted with IUL.

Essentially we need to disable the form fields until the initComplete handler code is executed , otherwise if we want to forcefully type into any of the form fields , before initComplete, that field is being locked.

Hello Alexandra,

Could you please provide me with sample application to reproduce this problem?

P.S. I recommend you to update your version of Firefox to the last one.
