Hi,

Is it possible to do the following:

1) The user fills out a form (text boxes)

2) The user checks the files for upload.

3) A script merges the form data into IPTC fields and then uploads the files. (I already have a component to merge IPTC data into files but it needs to have the full path of the file). Or do you guys have another component that will allow this?

This is another requirement from our clients. Is this possible?

Many thanks
Faisal

On one side merging IPTC data can be done on server-side (in this case you will have just to create user interface for data editing and merge IPTC on server with your component). On other side we can implement support of IPTC merging directly in Image Uploader control. In this case Image Uploader will merge IPTC on client-side. It will be custom work, so if you are interested in it please contact us at sales@aurigma.com.

Ok, is it possible so get the filenames/paths of the checked files. Is it possible so execute a script before uploading?

Or have another button which carries out a script on the selected files. Then upload the files using the send button.

Also is it possible to rename the "Send" button to "upload"?

Many thanks.

No, you cannot obtain file names which has not been uploaded. It would be a potential security flaw.

Fedor has suggested another approach: first you upload files (thus you know all filenames on server), then allow user to modify IPTC data using web interface. It would be a solution if your IPTC component is intended for server-side processing (i.e. it is not a visual client-side ActiveX control like Image Uploader).

It is not possible too.

Yes, sure. You can rename each text item of Image Uploader. In particular Send button caption can be changed with this param:

Hope this will help.

Many thanks for all your advice. I have got everything and am using server side processing for updating IPTC information. Now it's time to show the boss... Hopefully if all goes well we should be shipping this component with our DAM solutions.

This topic is out of date.

Now Image Uploader supports working with EXIF and IPTC metadata.
