Hello, is there another update on version 11 and .NET Core support? If there is availability in the beta, I would like to be considered.

Hi Raphael, Our engineers are finishing the development of Graphics Mill 11 and plan to release it within a couple of weeks. The next milestone is release of .NET 6 version for Windows that should be available shortly. As for the Linux version there are no specific plans yet. |

Is there any update to this? If no .NET Core version is coming, we will have to use a different toolset/product - soon.

Hello everyone, Sorry for the long delay. At the beginning of this year, we came back to the problem with the .NET platform (formerly known as .NET Core). Initially we did try to migrate to the first version of .NET Core, and we couldn’t because of a MSVC 2019 compiler issue. So, we had to suspend the migration. Last year we did a great job of updating our compiler. Unfortunately, the old issue was not fixed, and we had to make different workarounds about that. Our compiler became up to date, and we were ready to get back to migration. It turned out that some time ago .NET Framework compatibility mode was introduced in .NET, and now it’s possible to use .NET Framework assemblies in modern .NET projects. But you need to take care about dependencies, i.e. if your .NET Framework assembly references some other assembly, you need to add it as a dependency as well. Otherwise, you’ll get a runtime exception. As for Graphics Mill, it doesn’t have too many dependencies – only System.Drawing and System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager. Fortunately, Microsoft provides their implementations for the .NET platform and all you need is to add them to your project. We’ve updated the NuGet package in Graphics Mill 11.5.23 – it’ll add all the required packages when you install it on .NET project. Our tests on .NET have passed successfully. The only exception is objects serialization and desktop application licenses, because the required classes have been deprecated in .NET. So, you can’t serialize objects and you can’t build desktop applications for .NET projects with embedded license. So you can use Graphics Mill with .NET (formerly known as .NET Core) on Windows platform. Edited by user Tuesday, January 23, 2024 10:49:39 PM(UTC)
