I've detected that ImageUploader freezes when I use a slow connection and Internet Explorer 6.0.29.

The java applet version 1.1.02 works fine, but when I upgrade to the 2.0.35 version, I have that problem.

The progress bar freezes and the window doesn't show the thumbnail.

What is different in the new version?

This is similar to my problem (see thread about Internet Explorer Memory Leak?) -- it may not be that you have a slow connection, but because you don't have much memory, or at least that's what we've found. What is your processor speed, and how much RAM do you have?

I've been testing the Java uploader off and on for the past year. I've only had these problems with recent versions...

The specifications are:

Dell CPU PIV 2.8Mhz.
256MB de RAM

The connection is dial-up, very slowly.

Just out of curiosity, have you tried uploading using a different browser? Try Firefox, if you can.

I don't want to use the ActiveX. When we buy the Java Applet you told us that it had the same functionality that the ActiveX has. That's why we buy it. We needed an applet so it would run in PC and MAC.

Now you're saying that the information you gave us wasn't accurate? That we need the ActiveX. That isn't right. We expected more from you.

I need an Applet that works just as the ActiveX does.

I have to agree with you, Claudia. We bought the Java applet for our site as well, believing that it would have the same functionality across all browsers. I'm very unhappy that we have to use the ActiveX version (and therefore pay more money) for Internet Explorer users, who of course, make up 95% of our users.

Hello,

Image Uploader for Java has almost the same functionality as the ActiveX one. But it’s slower because it uses some slow standard Java libraries. If we use another library the size of the applet would become too large. We will make a special big work regarding Image Uploader for Java speed on September. This big work will have to solve your problems.
Sincerely yours,
Alex Makhov

Hello,

We have made some changes in thumbnail generation mechanism so you get the last version from our download section and check if the problem has been solved.
Sincerely yours,
Alex Makhov
