Is this a known bug?

Anyone else getting this...

My user-base is reporting this problem at the moment - intermittently and not in any great detail... I think it is on both windows Vista home and XP.

Hello,

No, this is not a known bug.

Can you get more information from your user? At least some steps for reproducing + page embedding code.

I can't reproduce it - but I only have access to one IE7 vista machine (sometimes)

Unfortunately this is the kind of bug report that I get:

"I cant download any pics and its a complete pain in the arse as its delaying publishing of my blogs. is anyone actually doing anything about this or are we just continuing to complain? both java with firefox and active x with windows are not working. SOMEBODY DO SOMETHING!!!!!"

After one post about a xandas linux version not working - and one where it was user error - there are two talking about a iexplore crash that look as though a bug is there.

I've setup a dummy version of the uploader (usually it's heavily embedded in the website)

http://www.travelblog.or...-test/photos-select.html

Reported steps...

"
- I go into the fast upload section to add my photos (the dummy page)
- I select the ones I want to upload then press Add
- It appears to work for mabey 5 seconds the I get the message "Internet Explorer has stopped working", check online for assistance or restart.
- The details show "appcrash" "iexplore.exe" "app version 7.0.6000.16609"
"

Hello Ali,

I’ve tested your dummy page and it didn’t crash.

If both versions of Image Uploader are not working, most likely this is a server side issue. Because ActiveX and Java Uploaders have completely different implementations.

As for IE crashing – this is ActiveX issue without any doubts.

1. Sometimes the cause of crashing is some type of photos. Can you get the photos from your client and try to reproduce the bug with them? If the crash will occur, please submit case with this photo.

2. Can your client reproduce the issue once again? Is it stable on his side? If so, we can build special version with crash dump writing ability. This dump could help to resolve the problem very shortly.

Java version is fine - just user error.

I've requested photos from the users who experience the problems.

Hello Ali,

We didn’t get your photos. Could you submit case with your photos?

I've recreated this bug now on my installation - using Internet Explorer 6.

AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 6.0.2900.2180 ModName: comctl32.dll
ModVer: 6.0.2900.2982 Offset: 00002170

The crash seems to occur after the server response is sent - the redirect point?

The image that is small enough to use on the onlinedemo works fine.

What would be specific to my installation that would cause this error - on some photos? and not others?

Ali,

I reproduced the bug on my side too.

Please try to update iuembed.js file you are using on your site. You can get iuembed.js from IU SDK, available from download section.

Thank you Eugene - It appears to have fixed this bug - looks like I accidentally had an older version of the js file in the directory.
