Hi,
Is there any way to improve the quality of thumbnail images so that they don't look so jagged and pixelated?
Regards,
Sam

Hey Fedor,
We are also wanting to purchase this product and need for the system to re-size the thumbs to a rough size of 550x412.
Is the issue that Samj raised likely to impact us get the best quality 550x412 thumb image?
Thanks
Shawno

Quality problem is noticable when thumbnail size is rather small (about 150x150). On large thumbnails it works pretty good. In any case in the end of February we will release update where this problem will be finally fixed. |

Thanks for the quick reply Fedor!
So for a thumb of 550x412 that should be ok?
I have just tried searching your online help section but I am a bit confused by the 'image quality' part. When we currently export images at 550x412 (for landscape and inverse for portrait) the file size is about 50-60k per image. Using the trail version of image uploader it is about 250k per image (around 4x5 greater than it needs to be).
I am assuming this has to do with the 'quality' function? Could you explain more about this?
Thanks
Shawno

So for a thumb of 550x412 that should be ok? Yes, it should be okay. I have just tried searching your online help section but I am a bit confused by the 'image quality' part.I want to clarify that there are two "quality" terms. Before we talked about "resize quality". Bad thumbnail quality means that thumbnail are resized jagged. When we currently export images at 550x412 (for landscape and inverse for portrait) the file size is about 50-60k per image. Using the trail version of image uploader it is about 250k per image (around 4x5 greater than it needs to be). And here you mean "jpeg compression quality" term which isn't related wtih "resize quality". You can set it using UploadThumbnail1JpegQuality , UploadThumbnail2JpegQuality , or UploadThumbnail3JpegQuality parameters. Edited by user Tuesday, February 26, 2008 2:36:53 AM(UTC)

Fedor,
Thanks again for the explanation - we are now 1 step closer to purchasing :)
I think all we need to do now is play with the 'jpeg quality' to work out what setting works best (ie 0 - 100).
On another matter, I assume for the 'fitmode' property = 'Fit' preserves the aspect ratio of the image (landscape or portrait)?

Shawno

Image Uploader preserves aspect ratio always with any fit mode. |

Sensational.
One final question (well for now :) )
If we purchase v3 now is there a cost to upgrade to v3.5 that you speak off (2nd half of Feb)?

After purchasing Image Uploader 3.0 you will get license key which will unlock software for all 3.x versions, so you need to pay nothing for upgrade. |
