Description

After a user installs Java 7 Update 51, the Java uploader applet does not show up on a page and if you click the applet placeholder, the SecurityException message appears:

Reason

Short answer: you uploader is too old, you should update it to the latest version.

Extended answer: Some time ago Oracle decided to improve the security of Java by requiring software vendors to markup applets whether they require potentially unsafe functionality (like access to the file system, ability to call JavaScript function and vice versa, etc). In previous Java releases, it was an optional thing - for example, in Java 7 Update 25 it displayed a warning in Java console, in Java 7 Update 45 it displayed a warning message on the security dialog. However when Java 7 Update 51 was released, they made this option mandatory.

On practice, it means that ANY Java applet created earlier than in mid 2013 (when such requirements appeared) is banned by Oracle. In case of Upload Suite, we have included these security attributes in the version 8.0.48. All older versions of Upload Suite won't work with Java 7 Update 51 and later.

Solution

You need to update the uploader to the latest version.

If you don't have an active maintenance subscription, you need to renew it first. In this case, please contact us at sales@aurigma.com.
