Hi,
I have just downloaded the Graphics Mill Trial and the Gift sample - when I try to run the sample in VS2008 I get following error:

{"Evaluation time period has expired. Please, purchase full version of the product."}

I have made the references in the gift project point directly to the trial dll's - shouldn't this work??

Best regards

This is the same sample, but the project converted from Web Application to the Web Site. So you don't need to compile it before deploy to the IIS server. Also it is fully compatible with .NET 2.0, instead of .NET 3.5 for previous version of this sample.

UPDATED 2010-06-08:
Remove name attribute. name is not valid attribute for <a> and <div> elements in XHTML.

UPDATED 2010-07-06:
1. Fix problem with some transparent *.png
2. The images not rendering when placed near the region bounds
3. Objects disappear from the list after postback

Hi,

You're saying it is impossible to print into pdf or ...
So, what is the file that we will use for printing?

Thx.

Hello Alex,

Could you please explain what you mean by “printing”. Gift Editor does not allow to export image to PDF format.

This is my understanding:
We hv this web application that allows clients to go online, design their own gift. Then, we will print the "design" on the actual gift. Am i right?
So, how to achieve this printing part? Is there any other output besides pdf format?

Thx.

Yes, you are right. However, Gift Editor does not support print functionality directly.

Hi,

So, after user design and submit, are we going to get a file (such as .gif, .tiff) and print it out from that file?

Thx.

Hello,

As far as I understand, you need to install Gift Editor sample. I attached ZIP archive to this post.

Please download, and unpack it. Then open through VS as web site.

Hi,

I am alextkc's colleague, I have setup an evaluation version of Gift Editor in my localhost. But, when I inserted Chinese text to be printed on the gift, the GE then became not responding.

I have tried to trace the method which done the displaying text on the gift to find out the cause, but I was stuck. The chinese text can be grab from the field, but problem occur when trying to set the text value to the object. I am unable to get to the method involved.

Is it possible to help on this?

Thanks.

Hello,

We reproduced this problem with Gift Editor and Chinese characters. GE uses earlier version of Graphics Mill 5.5. Please download Graphics Mill 5.5.6 SDK, and add reference to new DLLs. For v5.5.6 Chinese hieroglyphs are added to canvas okay. We checked it.

Please let me know if you have any problems.

Hello,

I am facing two issues. I have replaced the dlls in the bin folder of the Gift Editor demo project to allow chinese text to be added into canvas.

Next, I was trying to save the layers with the background for edit again purpose. The contents are saved successfully. But when the saved contents are retrieved, the thumbnail for image layer is not showing, the thumbnail url seem is using temporary url for it, any workaround for this?

By the way, when I was working on the save and retrieve contents function, problem occur when background image is added into the background image layer. The error I received is:

Code:
"uncaught exception: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80040111 (NS_ERROR_NOT_AVAILABLE) [nsIDOMCanvasRenderingContext2D.drawImage]" nsresult: "0x80040111 (NS_ERROR_NOT_AVAILABLE)" location: "JS frame :: http://localhost/ge/ScriptResource.axd?d=CuZRHuocAKkXCAgRiCYA4DFtLGNUqEsr8MkNDrESiGsPDtE1uRaZzTpYOhxXDY31dm0D43HNbws85QbotGKyfujiGKxxSGjWk_nWU4zsXRRYyhiCgs7kT2oqd4gy9zmGBNfRnYuRlLjJ3aTFkxhfo0m_x4h2i6IMIf6T484v_09y5tTyHKQ5fAPJNVHs3FLB4YngopTavXon5ruW-zEmV21VaObg3G74JuZeVo9HpgLsaaHk0&t=5eae0ef1 :: <TOP_LEVEL> :: line 3131" data: no]"

It works well in IE, but this error occur when I run the project in FireFox.

Is it possible to guide on this?

Thank you.

Best Regards,
xavyr

Hello,

Another two issues regarding Gift Editor. Can we draw a line or a box on the workplace canvas? If can, how to achieve this?

And, I have changed the input textbox to textarea for multiline text, is it possible to set the text alignment for the multiline text (like left, center, right and justify)?

Thank you.

Best Regards,
xavyr
