Description

New Java update was released but a user decided to install the update later. Sometimes the user may fail to upload any files through the uploader - no matter what files the user selects, empty request is sent to the server.

This situation may be diagnosed using a Java console log: it should contain a line saying Aurigma Upload Suite: warning: sending request without files.

Other symptoms may apply - no event handlers work, calls of JavaScript methods of the uploader are ignored, etc.

Cause

Oracle starts to consider this particular version of Java to be "below the Security Baseline" (and, therefore, unsafe). As a result, Java blocks LiveConnect module which makes impossible to communicate between Java applet and JavaScript.

Solution

Such users should update their Java runtime to the latest version. Typically, Java suggests to install the latest version every time when the user opens a page with a Java plugin. However if users have problems with it, just direct them to http://www.java.com/verify.

Alternatively, the user can reduce the security level to Medium. However, this is strongly not recommended.
